In 2023, the St. Anthony Baseball Association established an account to fund a scholarship to honor the memory of Tom Flock-Johnson. Tom lost his battle with rare and aggressive form of brain cancer, glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), on August 1, 2023, at the age of 60. Tom studied chemistry at St. John’s University and Arizona State University, and had a nearly thirty-year career as an analytical chemist at H.B. Fuller. Tom was also an important part of the St. Anthony Baseball community. Tom was a founding member of the St. Anthony Norsemen (35+) and the St. Anthony Codgers (50+)
baseball teams. Tom played more than 200 baseball games in a St. Anthony jersey between 2007 and 2021. He played two of those games in September of 2021, shortly after his diagnosis and undergoing brain surgery.
“TFJ” was loved by his teammates, who remember him as a skilled and dedicated ballplayer, a good and fair competitor, and a great teammate, friend, husband and father. Tom had a gentle nature and a wonderful sense of humor. He is greatly missed.
The St. Anthony Baseball Association is proud to honor Tom’s memory and legacy by supporting a $1000 scholarship to be given starting in 2024 to a graduating senior at St. Anthony Village High School who participated in the St. Anthony Baseball Program at the high school level, with a strong preference for a student who intends to study science in a post-secondary program. The recipient will be selected by the High School and announced at the annual Local Scholarship Awards Ceremony held prior to graduation.
To make a tax-deductible contribution to support this scholarship fund, make out a check to “St. Anthony Baseball Association” and write “TFJ” on the memo line. Checks can be mailed to:

This photo was taken on Palm Field on September 19, 2021. That night Tom wrote the following message to the team:
“It was just what the doctor ordered for me – to do something ‘normal’ and fun. It was great playing again and seeing my fellow baseball men …. It means the world to me and my family during these trying times.”
